Meetings every second Tuesday
Meeting (Old)
Hello All,
As few as we may be, I think we have some good people involved that are willing to make this happen.
I call for a meeting.
I can meet any day this week. Evenigs are fine for me. Days are good too, except for Wednesday day.
Thursday -- day or night
Friday -- day or night
Saturday -- day or night
Sunday -- day or night
Let's use this discussion to narrow in on a day.

Re:Meeting (Old)
Well since we're an IT group, we could always do it virtually. :D
Re:Meeting (Old)
A meeting would be swell.
My schedule is always busy. I've never been to and Portland Linux Group meetings because of that. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are usually open for me. If planned in advance, I can make it any evening. Anybody else interested in a meeting?
Does anybody have a good meeting place in mind? A restaurant with a big table? We'll need to plan the structure of the meeting. Informal with no structure? Formal? Little of both? A little of both sounds good to me.
meeting
I think we should meet in person. Adding a human element to what we do is always good.
How about Wednesday Mar 26 7pm. That will give us a week to find a spot to meet and talk about topics for the meeting. Obviously design and structure of the new site are topics as well as dividing up the work.
I will find a place to meet within a mile of downtown. Does that sound good? Putting it close to downtown will give a lot of people access via bus lines and such. Not that there will be a big turn out.
Moxley -- Can you put an announcement on the home page if we all agree to meet on this day?
Re:Meeting (Old)
I posted the meeting on the home page for Wednesday, May 26 at 6 PM at Powell's Technical Books. I think the site design would be the number one agenda. Richard, can you make it then?
I encourage everybody to be there, even if you just want to listen.
Meeting @ Powells
Yes, I think I can make it this Wednesday. But can we make it for 7pm instead?
meeting
I can do 7.
thursday meeting
Hello All,
It looks like we are on for Wednesday, 7pm at Powell's Technical books.
see you then.
Quick Intro
I was just wandering the other day if Portland was 'hip' enough to sport a PHP users group so I did what we all do and googled for it and viola, here you are. I just wanted to say a quick hello and I'm looking forward to the meeting this Thursday and the chance to collaborate with other PHP coders in the area.
My Quick background
Day job - Java web developer at Vtech in Beaverton (mostly intranet sites)
Evenings and weekends - PHP web programmer and I am just starting to dabble w/ Flash (specifically AMFPHP).
see you all at the meeting,
Just wanted to say 'Great First Meeting'
It looks like we have lots to do and I want to again let you all know if there is anything you need help with (even boring grunt work), feel free to let me know. Which brings me to a question:
How do we want to handle day to day communication (especially during these initial weeks) I'm open to anything - IM, Email, This Forum, Telephone. I realize we'll probaly use the forum for the more major discussions, but again I'm just curious about the day to day stuff. I sort of lean twards IM but I know some people don't like it.
Let me know what you all think,
Re:Meeting (Old)
Where is everyone?
When's the next meeting?
What's happening with the new website, etc.?
Richard
Re:Meeting (Old)
I'd be up for a php user group meeting,
I just got finished with OSCON and have still haven't got off the geek high :)
PHP 5 is going to rock the world!

OSCON, whata ride
I totally agree w/ akimbo on PHP5. I like to program OO and now we have a language that truely suports it (die ampersands, die!). I'm all for an informal meet and greet to see where we want to take PDXPHP.
I can meet anywhere near Portland west side any evening (6pm on).
Meeting
I think a meeting would be great. Let's set a place and time. The biggest challenge I think, is place. Any ideas?
By the way, I received an email from the lead developer of Quanta Plus-- a powerful IDE-style web-development application for KDE and X-Window. He offered to make a presentation at one of our meetings in the next few months on Quanta Plus. That's some very good news!
Proposed Meeting
i leave for chicago from 8-10 to 8-20, then I'm off to California from 8-26 to 8-30.
so i could meet next week on Monday or Tuesday, or between trips on Monday the 23rd to Wednesday the 25th.
Moxley, great news on Quanta, I've watched that product evolve over the years and it seems quite capable now.
as for location I prefer Portland, west side but i could also meet east side if within bike distance. As for west side locations, NW 21st Coffee Time (if we expect under 10 people and i believe they have free wifi). The Coffee People (near Broadway Metroplex theater, not sure of the exact address), has a large seating area. Also the PSU library has meeting rooms that should be available since school is out. Let me know what you all think, open to all suggestions
Thanks,
Re:Meeting (Old)
How about Wednesday, September 1st? Boice and I talked and we thought it would be good to discuss plans for this web site, and later in the month we could arrange to have the presentation on Quanta Plus.
What does everbody think?
Re:Meeting (Old)
I will be there.
Moxley, Do we want to start a new thread to discuss the next meeting (this one's getting kind of long)?
Meeting topic
Good idea.
There is a new forum now for meetings.
