Web Application Developer

We are seeking a talented and experienced web developer, with 5 plus years experience, for an exciting opportunity to participate in cutting edge development with a great company.  Reporting to the Director of Online Services, this individual will participate in all facets of the development of our next generation education products. The individual will have a portfolio that includes at least one implementation of a high traffic public site, and a proven track record of creating solutions based on requirements, design specifications and business needs.  The ideal candidate will be passionate and experienced in creating next generation web applications using "web 2.0" technologies.   Experience with collaboration or social networking implementations is a plus.   Success in this job depends upon individual's ability to create high quality code, multi-task, communicate effectively and find creative solutions to complex problems. This individual must have an entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable working in an established company on a new business area.  

General qualifications include:

*   Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Math or related field, or equivalent

*   5+ years of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL [or PostgreSQL], PHP) experience

*   Expert-level use of HTML, CSS (cross browser), JavaScript, and AJAX

*   Hands-on FLASH/FLEX development experience

*   Strong OOP concepts and analysis

*   Solid knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies

*   Familiar with revision control and defect tracking tools

*   Some user-interface design experience
