Hello, I would like to encourage anybody who can, to volunteer to take part in putting together this web site and organization. To volunteer, please post a reply to this.
Some of the immediate things that come to mind:

I would be willing to help out.
I could help design the website, etc. if we have a "defined" areas and/or a look to go with.

How is this for a mission statement. Let's pass this around and see what it turns into.
Mission Statement:
The Portland PHP Users Group is a community forum for people to share, meet and learn about PHP and other related technologies. The group strives to provide great resources for anyone interested in PHP regardless of their skill level or background. Through sharing and communication we believe we can foster a creative successful community of PHP devlopers.

Yes, I am a designer (and instructor of the Design Process). ;-)

That's great Richard. Having a designer for this project will be a big help.
How would you like to proceed. Maybe everyone interested should meet to discuss the requirements for the first phase of design.
