Meeting September 1, 2004

We are planning a meeting for Wednesday September 1, 2004.

The primary topic is this web site: content and functionality. Are goal is to build the site in order to maximize participation in PDXPHP.

So far, moxley, boice, and skeen have committed to going. Please participate in the poll and let us know how many are going. Knowing this will help us choose the best meeting venue.

Meeting place

I've started working on a meeting place for the Sept 1 meeting (and future meetings).
First option>> All of the public libraries have public meeting rooms that you can reserve. I checked out the one at the downtown main branch an it was quite nice. The only catch is they close at 7:45PM (stating Aug 28th) but if most attendees think this is late enough, this is certainly an option.
Second option>> I was curious how LPUG was able to meet monthly at Portland state. After many calls to get the correct person, I found that they were able to meet at Pstate due to the fact that the group has pstate faculty as members and they claim the meetings as a research project. So the question is, do we currently have any PSU (or PCC) faculty as members? If we do or if in the future, we gain faculty as members, we could probably schedule regular meetings at one of the local campuses.
Third option>>We can meet at one of our member's company's facilities. I could approach the company I work for and ask to use the "training room" once a month for meetings. It is in Beaverton though (across 217 from washington square mall). I don't know if they would go for it, and Beaverton may not be convenient to most members, but we would have Internet access, whiteboards, and LCD projector. Are there any other members how may have facilities to hold our meetings?

To all members, feel free to make suggestions and comments about where we may be able to hold our meetings. Of course we will not be able to find a location that is ideal for everyone, but we'll do our best to find one acceptable to most members. I head out of town this wednesday for 10 days but I'll check our bb as regular as I can. In the mean time I'll contiue my search for the perfect meeting place.

Re:Meeting September 1, 2004

I think that the downtown library would be fine! We could meet at 6:30 -- that would give us over a hour before they closed.

Richard

Library booking

I turn in the application and book the Main Branch Library. If we eventually decide not to use it we can always cancel.

Re:Meeting September 1, 2004

So is the meeting time at 6:30, as richard suggested?

A specific meeting time isn't listed on the front page of the site, leaving one to search through the forums.

meeting time

I believe 6:30 PM is the consensus. At the library. Does anybody have any objections?

Oops, my goof - Meeting time is at 6:30pm

Sorry guys,
I guess you would actually want to know WHEN to show up. The time is 6:30pm till roughly 7:45pm (Library will kick us out). I will be there a bit early at 6:00pm so feel free to show early. If at 7:45 We still have more to discuss, we can always regroup at a close by pub/coffee house.

See you all there,
Sam

thanks

Thank Sam for putting this together. I'm looking forward to the meeting this Wednesday!

Projector Available for meeting

FYI - We will have an LCD projector available if anyone has a need. I also checked the rules for the meeting room and you can bring food and/or drink (just cannot make a mess and of course no alcohol), so feel free to bring something to drink or munch on.
